ASNCM, serving as the Aging Services Access Point for North Central Massachusetts, is looking for an enthusiastic intern interested in human services, focusing on care for the elderly. The intern will gain hands-on experience by working with case managers and program specialists to support the elderly and their families. This role offers insight into the human service field, development of communication and problem-solving skills, and learning in organizing person-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct community visits and assessments, formulate care plans, coordinate in-home services.
- Ensure compliance with EOEA Regulations and ASNCM policies.
- Shadow and assist State Home Care Case Managers, Program Specialists, and Program Managers.
- Assist with intake and case management under supervisor guidance.
- Attend program reviews and staff meetings.
- Participate in quality improvement activities for optimum consumer outcomes.
- Assist with administrative duties, including record-keeping, data entry, and program development.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Job Requirements
- Enrollment in an undergraduate/graduate program in Social Work, Geriatrics, Psychology, Health and Human Services, or a related field.
- Passion for working with the elderly and interest in human services/non-profit organizations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Must pass a background check.
- A reference letter from a faculty member or academic advisor.
