The City of Boston is seeking a Director for the Area Agency on Aging (AAA), responsible for the overall planning and management of the AAA and the Elderly Commission as mandated under the Older Americans Act. This role involves developing annual and multi-year plans, overseeing Title III programs, and supervising staff involved in elderly care services. The director will work closely with community agencies to assess needs, develop programs, and manage funds effectively.
Responsibilities
- Develop annual and multi-year plans in collaboration with advisory councils and committees.
- Oversee Area Agency on Aging Title III programs.
- Provide technical assistance for community agencies in needs assessment, grant writing, and program development.
- Determine the needs of Boston’s elderly population using surveys, census data, and public input.
- Supervise the compilation of statistical information and monthly reports.
- Review and recommend funding allocations for Title III funds.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of five years' experience in human service and/or community development; a bachelor's degree may substitute for two years of required experience.
- Strong writing, communication, and computer skills.
- Experience in human services planning, preferably with elderly services.
- Skills in grantsmanship, program development, research, and analysis.
- Familiarity with the aging network, the Older Americans Act, and relevant legislation.
- Proficient in interpreting and responding to federal and state regulations.
- Experience directing professional committees and providing direct services.
